My Story

Marketing books, and the people behind them

I’m Peter Knox — VP, Head of Marketing, and Client Experience Director at BookHighlight, a premier book marketing and sales agency based in Brooklyn, New York. Driven by a passion for connecting new books to the readers who benefit from them, I work with first-time and veteran authors alike to make a lasting impact on publication day and beyond.

I support authors throughout the publication process — from proposal through pub date and beyond. Over two decades in publishing, I’ve worked with more than two thousand authors to bring their ideas to market, earning placements on National Bestseller lists as they reach their largest possible audience. I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and what it takes to achieve lasting impact through a book.

Before BookHighlight, I was Senior Marketing Manager at Wiley, leading the trade business book group for almost fourteen years. I learned firsthand the ins and outs of launching a successful book — and the dozens of people involved. To close the gap between what authors need and what publishers have the bandwidth to provide, I built BookHighlight’s creative team in Brooklyn. My publishing career began at Washington College, where I served as Student Director of the Literary House Press and was awarded the Haddock Prize for Publishing Excellence.

Beyond Work

Always with a book

Outside of publishing, I enjoy traveling to new places, taking photos, watching movies, and attending concerts and sporting events — always sharing recommendations with friends. Occasionally I turn up in the media, in print, or on screen.

As I grew up, I grew up reading — under the covers with a flashlight, hidden behind a textbook or under my desk at school, always with a book no matter what. My fantasy was being able to have a book with me always (a dream realized once smartphones and e-readers were invented!).
